Junius E. McAninch (Sr) (continued)

Junius E. McAninch (Sr) married Mary E. 'Mollie' Clark, 15 May 1899, St. Joseph,

Buchanan County, Missouri, and they are listed in Kansas City, Jackson County,

Missouri, in the 1900 census, with Mollie's daughter (Junius' step-daughter) Mamie

(Mae? May?) Clark, b.Dec. 1890, in Missouri; Junius' occupation is "Flagman".

Junius E. and Mary E. 'Mollie' (Clark) (maiden name unknown) McAninch had one

child together, a son, June Eugene McAninch Jr., born 1 Aug. 1908, in Missouri.

Junius (Sr) worked on the railroad, flagman, brakeman on the Burlington Route,

switchman, driver, and painter ("painter" "Steam RR" on the 1920 census).

The three of them [Junius E. (Sr), Mollie, and Jr.] lived in Parsons City, Labette County,

Kansas, for many years (1920 census, 1925 Kansas state census, and 1930 census); in

1930, Junius (Sr)'s occupation was "Painter" "M K T shops" (Missouri-Kansas-Texas

Railroad), and June Jr.'s occupation was "Machinist" "M K T shops", at age 21.

The three of them came to California during the early 1930's; they are listed in the 1936

City Directory, and then Mary is listed as 'widow of J. E.' in 1937, 1938, 1939, and

1942 directories, and the 1940 census. So, Junius (Julius) apparently died c.1936-1937

(age 71-72), and Mary probably died c.1943 (age mid-70's), and both probably died

in Los Angeles (burial records unknown). [These families are difficult to trace, three

generations with the same initials J. E. McAninch, and the handwritten name "Junius"

(Julius) has been transcribed incorrectly as "James" on some of the document indexes].

June Eugene (Junius E. Jr.) McAninch b.1 Aug. 1908 in Missouri (prob. Kansas City,

Jackson County), son of Junius E. (June Sr) and Mary E. (Mollie) (Clark) McAninch

[see Note 21, above]. In 1930, in Parson, Labette County, Kansas, June E. (Jr) was a

Machinist for the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad, and came to Los Angeles before

1935 (1935 residence Los Angeles on 1940 census). He married Hazel Jewell Austin

(poss. California; date, place unknown), and they had one child, (James) Jimmie

Eugene McAninch, born in Los Angeles County, California. June (Jr) and Hazel are

listed in the 1937, 1942, and 1960 city directories (June is a machinist with the

Southern Pacific Railroad), and in Los Angeles voter registration records through 1954.

June Eugene McAninch (Jr.) died 7 Nov. 1966, in Los Angeles, and is buried at

Pierce Brothers Valhalla Memorial Park, North Hollywood, Los Angeles County,

California; Hazel Jewell (Austin) McAninch 's death and burial are not known.

In the third generation, (James) Jimmie Eugene McAninch (another J. E. McAninch)

married Dorelle Hope Mikiska, in Los Angeles County, and they appear in various

Southgate and Downey city directories in suburban Los Angeles County.
