Elzie Marious McAninch, b.27 Apr. 1892, Atalissa, Muscatine County, Iowa, son of |

John L. and Floretta (Plumly) McAninch. John moved his family to Oklahoma, and |
|
|
then to Sedgewick County, Kansas. In 1917, Elzie registered for the W.W.I Draft in |
|
|
Greeley, Weld County, Colorado. Elzie married Laura N. Thompson, 17 Sept. 1921, |
|
|
in Sedgewick County, Kansas, and in 1930 they were living in Greeley, Colorado. |
|
|
They came to Long Beach, California (city directories, 1931 and 1932), and lived |
|
|
in Inglewood (multiple voter registration records, 1934 through 1956). In the 1940 |
|
|
census, Elzie was listed as part owner and salesman of a retail gas station Elzie and |
|
|
Laura McAninch did not have any children. Elzie died 18 May 1962, and Laura died |
|
|
31 Aug. 1973, both in Los Angeles County; burial information unknown. |

Carroll Gentry McAninch, fifth son and seventh child of William David and Elizabeth |
|
|
Caroline (Neil) McAninch, was born in Davilla, Milam County, Texas, either 9 May |
|
|
1891 (W.W.I records) or 7 May 1893 (death records). His older sister Lula (Louisa |
|
|
McAninch) married John Bray, and, in 1910, Carroll (age 19) is a boarder and Laborer |
|
|
at their place in Alvarado, Johnson County, Texas. In 1917, Carroll registered for the |
|
|
W.W.I draft in Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee. After his World War I service, |
|
|
Carroll returned to Nashville, married Margaret Adams, and they lived in Nashville, |
|
|
Ward 6, in the 1920 census. Carroll continued his sales career, and, in 1930, Carroll |
|
|
and Margaret are in Houston, Harris County, Texas. They came to California in the |
|
|
early 1930's, and are listed in Los Angeles directories from 1936 through 1965 (some |
|
|
name variations, Christopher G., Carl G., and C. G.), with Carroll listed as a salesman |
|
|
for U S Bronze Powder Works Inc. Carroll and Margaret did not have any children. |
|
|
Margaret died 26 Mar. 1952, Los Angeles County; Carroll married(2) Eleanor Giles, |
|
|
and then Carroll and Eleanor are listed in the 1956 and subsequent street directories |
|
|
(no children of this marriage). Carroll died 6 Feb. 1968, Altadena, Los Angeles County, |
|
|
and Eleanor died 19 Jan. 1977; all three (Carroll, Margaret, and Eleanor) are buried at |
|
|
Forest Lawn Memorial Park (Glendale), Glendale, Los Angeles County, California. |

Junius E. McAninch b.June 1865 in Indiana, believed to be the son of Daniel Harris |
|
|
and Mary Elizabeth (Shrewsbury) McAninch, Putnam County, Indiana. Daniel and |
|
|
Mary had two children, sons Daniel W.(William?) McAninch, b.Oct 1855, and |
|
|
Junius (Julius? not James) E. McAninch, prob. both born in Putnam County, Indiana. |
|
|
Daniel H. McAninch was a farmer there for many years, and then the whole family |
|
|
(Daniel H., Mary E., Daniel W., and Junius E.) went to Missouri, first in Laclede, |
|
|
Linn County, Missouri, and then St. Joseph city, Buchanan County, Missouri, in 1900, |
|
|
where son Daniel W.'s occupation is "Paint Foreman" "RR". (continued) |
