Infant daughter of Jonathan Franklin Phillips (1840-1917), son of Samuel Phillips (1808-1880) and Rachel (Newman) Phillips (1818-1901). This appears to be a credible entry, by a Phillips-Newman family genealogist [2], although no other sources have been found. |

Jonathan Franklin Phillips, son of Samuel Phillips (1808-1880) and Rachel (Newman) Phillips (1818-1901), was born “in Clay Township, April 16, 1840” [40], and married Makina Couch, on 23 May 1868, in Hendricks County [24, “Conch McKina”] [40]. If they did bury an “infant daughter” here, it probably must have been “After 1868”, which would make it the last (known) burial in the cemetery. |

In 1870, they are living in Clay Township, with their first child, Alma C., and with Stephan Couch: |

In 1880, the family is still in Clay Township, with the five known children: |

Lora Phillips, b.ca.1873, is the only one of the five children that is not also found on the Hendricks County Cemetery lists [5] [5b] [5c]; Lora was still alive in 1880, age 7 [55], and, even if she had died while still a child, would probably not be considered an “infant daughter”. Did Jonathan and Makina (Couch) Phillips have another child, and then buried an “infant daughter”, between 1870 and 1880? Jonathan Franklin Phillips died in 1917, and is buried in the Coatesville Cemetery [5c]. |
