Officially known as the "Silver State" because of the importance of silver to its history and |
|
|
economy, Nevada became our 36th state during the Civil War, admitted on October 31, 1864, |
|
|
just before President Lincoln's re-election, and the motto "Battle Born" appears on the state flag. |
|
|
|
|
|
Three different McAninch families were part of Nevada's boom-and bust mining history: |
|
