McAninch–Bowser, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania

 

Henry McAninch (b Abt.1801), mar. Elizabeth Bowser (b. Abt.1802) [?mar. Armstrong Co., PA.]

 

In the “Bowser book” [Notes 1, 2, 3], it is said that

“Elizabeth Bowser, b. 1804, m. Henry McAninch” [1, page 135].

 

This book has extensive coverage of many Bowser lines in Pennsylvania, including Franklin Township, Armstrong County, which was the home of Valentine Bowser and his family --

 

“Valentine Bowser, born in 1777 and died in 1852. He married Elizabeth Fluke, oldest daughter of John Fluke of Hopewell, Pa., about 1800. He was reared on the farm of his father, John Bowser, Hopewell Township, about four miles west of Hopewell, Pa. ... He came to Armstrong County, Pa., with his wife and seven children in 1815. His son, Peter, was born October 20, 1815, a few weeks after their arrival. They crossed the Allegheny River 2-1/2 miles north of Kittanning, ... and took up land one mile north of Walk Chalk ... and there raised a family of eleven children. Valentine and his wife adhered to the use of their native speech, the Palatine German. Elizabeth (Fluke) was born in 1782 and died in ... Washington Twp., Armstrong Co., Pa., 1879, aged 97.”

Valentine Bowser made his Will in 1851, and died before March 15, 1852, when it was probated [4].

 

“Valentine Bowser, of Franklin Township, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, do make and publish this my last will and testament …

Fifth: I do hereby make and ordain my beloved wife, Elizabeth (Fluke) Bowser, and my son, Abraham Bowser, executors of this my last will and testament in witness whereof, I, Valentine Bowser, the testator, have to this my will written on one sheet of paper set my hand and seal this ninth day of March, 1851.

[Witnesses] Wm. Noble, Geo. Noble / Valentine (His X mark) Bowser”
