The four known ‘Second Generation’ McA/Ninch’s in this area are listed here by family groups,

starting with John McAninch’s three sons, the ‘Three Brothers’ described in the Jefferson County

2G:7.

William H. McAninch, b.1783-1784 (son of John McAninch, 1G:2); William H. married

Isabel Hopkins, and became the founders of the ‘Jefferson County McAninch’s [Note 7].

William got 40 acres in Armstrong County [1806, (Old) Buffalo Township, near his father

John McAninch 1G:2, assessed to Matthew Hopkins until 1816]; William and Isabel had

twelve children, and moved to Beaver Township, Jefferson County, during the late 1820’s.

2G:8.

John McAninch, born ca.1800 (son of John McA. 1G:2); this John married Barbara

(possibly Barbara Shoup), in Armstrong County. John and Barbara McAninch had three

daughters (Lucinda D., Mary Ann, and Matilda S.), and no sons. In the early 1830’s, John

and Barbara went to Richland Twp. Wyandot County, Ohio, and lived in Ohio. [Note 8].

traveling with Tarr and Jackson families, they all went west to Missouri and Iowa [Note 9].

Henry and Elizabeth (Bowser) McA. had 13 children, with six daughters and seven sons.

Two oldest sons, b.1820-1825, and b.1825-1830, Pennsylvania (prob. Armstrong County)

their fourth son William, b.1832-1833 (age 18 in 1850), may have gone to Ohio. The three

youngest sons, Nelson, Peter and George, went west to Missouri and Iowa with the family.
