Signed “President James K. Polk, by J. Knox Walker, Sec’y, S.H. Laughlin, Recorder of the General Land Office”.

Samuel McAninch, born Apr. 10, 1807 (not 1805), in Kentucky, son of William McAninch, who died 1813, Casey Co., Kentucky, and named his 5 sons in his Will. This Samuel married Margaret Myers, 1828, believed Giles County, Tennessee, and they had three children; in 1840 census, they are in Big Creek Twp., Van Buren Co., Missouri.

(3 of 3): Mar 17, 1897, James W. McAninch, Application 16682, at Springfield Land Office; (Patent) Homestead Certificate No. 9960 (BLM MO 6020_.266), 120 acres, Ozark County, Mo. (N½ NE¼ & SE¼ NE¼ S1 T21N R11W).

This is believed to be James William (Bill) McAninch, born May 5, 1850, Casey County, Kentucky, son of George C. [F.?]. and Eliza Jane (Wickersham) McAninch, grand-son of Jonathan and Tolitha (Turpin) McAninch, and great-grand-son of William McAninch, who died 1813, Casey Co., Kentucky, and named five sons in his Will. James W. and his family are in Howell Co., Mo., in 1900 and 1910 Census records, adjacent to Ozark Co.

 

Minnesota (1 of 2): April 3, 1896, S. O. McAninch, “of Clay County, Minnesota”, Cash Entry sale, at Crookston Land Office, Patent Certificate No. 5991 (BLM MN 0390_.009), 160 acres, Clay Co., Minnesota (SE¼ S10 T142N R47W), for “President Grover Cleveland, by M. McKean, Secretary, L.G.C. Lamar, Recorder of the General land Office”.

This is probably Samuel Oliver McAninch, born Jan. 15, 1852, Brookville, Jefferson County, Penn., son of Sylvester J. and Rosena (Himes) McAninch, grand-son of William and Isabel (Hopkins) McAninch, great-grand-son of John McA.

McAninch”], Application No. 20634, “Land Office at Saint Cloud, Minnesota” [Certificate, but “Crookston” in BLM database], (Patent) Homestead Certificate No. 12691 (BLM MN 3250_.397), 120 acres, Aitkin County, Minn. (W½ NW¼ & SE¼ NW¼ S14 T51N R26W), President Theodore Roosevelt.

This is Oliver Olin McAninch, born Feb. 22, 1854, Amo, Hendricks County, Indiana, son of Joseph [P.?] and Elizabeth Jane (Quiett) McAninch, grand-son of Samuel and Polly (Skidmore) McAninch, great-grand-son of Daniel [O.?] McAninch, of Kentucky. Oliver married Deborah E. Gildersleeve, Aug. 13, 1876, in Ringgold Co., Iowa; he was a pioneer in Aitkin County, and the first postmaster at Haypoint, Minn.

 

Wisconsin (1 of 3): Nov. 22, 1901, Frank McNinch, “of Oneida County, Wisconsin”, Cash Entry sale, Wausau Land Office, Patent Certificate No. 22514 (BLM WI 0540_.410), 40 acres Oneida County  (SW¼ NE¼ S36 T39N R10E), Pres. Theodore Roosevelt. Who is this Frank Mc(A)Ninch?).
