Source Notes:

[1] Source: Leslie G. Saylor, 4623 North Idlewild Avenue, Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin 53211-1039.

Leslie sent copies of “a document called Record of the McAninch Family which was found amongst my mother’s papers. Mom was a granddaughter of Susan T. McAninch”, and “I believe the record was made by my grandmother, Ida T. (Scott) Clark”. Leslie himself is a grand-son of Ida Telitha (Scott) Clark, and great-grand-son of Susan Telitha McAninch. (Notes 11, 12)

[2] Description: handwritten documents, three lists, on two sides of the same sheet of paper.

[3] Handwriting (Author ?): the three lists appear to have been written by the same person. There are quite a few specific characteristics – distinctive capital letters J, M, T, and the lower-case ‘c’s, with both an inside curl at the top, and a single-short-stroke accent underneath (vertical, not horizontal, the original macron symbol). Since Susan T. McAninch’s birth and death are both listed [B5, D6], they were not written by Susan herself; Leslie believes they were written by Ida Telitha Scott Clark.

[4] Range?  The earliest date is 1826 [B2], and the most-recent date is Susan’s death date, 1923 [D6].

[5] Background info: William McAninch, in Lincoln County, Kentucky, 1797 (now Casey County). In his Will, 1813, he names his five male children: James, Jonathan, William, Samuel, and Jesse.

[6] “George C. McAninch was born in Kentucky, 12 Feb. 1828; the son of Jonathan McAninch (b. 1799/1800) and Tolitha Turpin (b. ca. 1807). On 14 June 1849, in Casey Co., Ky., he married Eliza J. Wickersham, born 10 April 1826 in Kentucky. Between March 1852 and May 1854, he moved his family to Cass Co., Mo. By 1870, he was living in Callaway Co., Mo. George died 16 Oct. 1902, presumably in Missouri, though his burial place has not yet been located. Eliza died ... May 1870, and is buried in Harrison Cemetery, near Auxvasse, Mo. George’s occupation was farming and ... [1850] Eliza was a weaver. George and Eliza had nine children.” – Leslie G. Saylor

[7] “Regarding the discrepancy in the middle initials between the 1849 marriage record in Casey Co., Kentucky, and later records, I do accept it as a transcription error. In the original marriage record the initial is clearly ‘F’ ... later records show both George and Eliza to have been born in Kentucky and I can find no other George McAninch, married to an Eliza Wickersham, in census records for the state. Further, there were Wickershams living near Jonathan McAninch in Casey Co. in 1850. ... in the 1850 census for Casey Co., Kentucky, he is listed simply as George; as he is in the 1860 census for Cass Co., Missouri. The middle initial ‘C’ was added on the 1870 census for Callaway Co., Missouri, and continued through the 1880 census for the same county. In the 1900 census for Callaway Co., he is listed as only McAninch, father of the household head, George (M.) McAninch. Finally, the Record of the McAninch family ... also lists him as George ‘C’.” – Leslie G. Saylor
