Enoch George McAninch (1824-1910), the fifth son of Samuel and Polly (Skidmore) McAninch, married (first) Isabelle ‘Belle’ Ridpath (1832-1860), daughter of James and Sabrina (Stevens) Ridpath (see Ridpath section, below) [51]. Enoch and Isabelle were married 1 Jan. 1852, in Putnam County; Isabelle (Ridpath) McAninch died in 1860, and then Enoch buried his first wife Isabelle here, in the ‘family plot’, the (Old) Pleasant Hill Methodist Cemetery, in 1860: |

Later, Enoch George McAninch married (second) Aruanah (Araunah?) Knighten (1841-1914), on 21 March 1862, in Hendricks County, and three years later they buried an infant daughter here, in 1865: |

After the Civil War, Enoch and Aruanah (Araunah?) (Knighten) McAninch went to Iowa, in the late 1860’s, and are both buried there, in Shaha Cemetery, Ringgold County, Iowa [60]. |

Enoch and his two wives seem to have done some moving back and forth between Indiana and Iowa, as he has young daughters buried in both places. Lydia Ann McAninch (1867-1949), the third daughter of his second wife, Aruanah (Araunah?), was born in Indiana, in 1867, after their first child, Mary Elizabeth McAninch (1863-1866), died in Iowa, where Mary is buried, also in Shaha Cemetery, Ringgold County, Iowa (Rosalie Eben Schack) [9]. And, the ‘Swan Creek to Lotts Creek’ family history book says “several visits were made to Indiana later.” [32] [32b]. |
