Samuel McAninch had a daughter, Sally (Sarah), from his first marriage (first wife’s name unknown):

Sally McAninch, b.ca.1810, in Kentucky; married George Hancock, 12 Mar. 1840, Hendricks County; died ca.1845-1847 (see ‘Hancock family’ section, below) [Note 30].

 

And then Samuel and (Mary) Polly (Skidmore) McAninch had twelve children, including seven sons:

Hannah McAninch, b.ca.1814-1815, in Kentucky; married William Mann, 1 Sept. 1842, Hendricks County; died before 1861 (see ‘Mann family’ section, below) [31];

2.

Elisha McAninch, b.12 Oct. 1815, in Kentucky; married Barsheba Scott, 30 June 1836, Putnam County; died 3 May 1895; both buried Stilesville Cemetery;

3.

Elizabeth ‘Betsy’ McAninch, b.25 Sept. 1817, in Kentucky; never married, died 12 Jan. 1892, Hendricks County; buried Stilesville Cemetery;

4.

Daniel McAninch, b.17 Apr. 1819, in Kentucky; married Phebe Pike, 6 Sept. 1843, Hendricks County; died 9 Mar. 1897; both buried Stilesville Cemetery;

5.

Joseph McAninch, b.2 Apr. 1821, in Kentucky; married Elizabeth Jane Quiett, 21 May 1845, Paris, Edgar County, Illinois; went to Ringgold County, Iowa; Joseph died 9 Mar. 1907; both buried Ringgold Cemetery, Ringgold County, Iowa;

John W. McAninch, b.25 Jan. 1823, in Kentucky; married Martha Ann Smith, went to Clinton County, Indiana; John died ca.1891; Martha died 12 Oct. 1896, Howard County;

Enoch George McAninch, b.19 Oct. 1824, in Kentucky; married (first) Isabelle Ridpath, 1 Jan. 1852, by H. D. Cootman, married (second) Aruanah (Araunah?) [60] Knighten, 21 Mar. 1862, both in Hendricks County; went to Ringgold County, Iowa; Enoch died 18 Nov. 1910; Aruanah (Araunah?) died 31 Oct. 1914; both buried Shaha Cemetery, Ringgold Co., Iowa;

Permelia Catherine McAninch, b.26 Jan. 1826, in Kentucky; known as ‘Amelia’; did not marry, lived with her sister Elizabeth ‘Betsey’; died 31 Jan. 1891, buried Stilesville Cemetery;

9.

Samuel James, b.15 Nov. 1829, in Kentucky; went to Iowa, married Mary Jane Baker, 29 Dec. 1850, Cedar County, Iowa; died 18 Dec. 1862; buried Peedee Cemetery, Cedar Co.;

10.

(Mary) Polly Susan(nah) McAninch, b.2 Dec. 1830, in Kentucky; first wife of John Smith Harlan, married 11 Jan 1849, Hendricks County; Polly died 24 Dec. 1853, and is buried in (Old) Pleasant Hill Cemetery;

11.

Arminta McAninch, b.26 Feb, 1833, in Indiana; second wife of John Smith Harlan, married 20 Jan. 1857, Hendricks County; they went to Ringgold County, Iowa; Arminta died 22 May 1902; John Harlan died 1 Jan. 1908; both buried Ringgold Cemetery, Ringgold Co.; and

12.

William S. McAninch, b.5 Mar. 1835, in Indiana; married Mary M. Johnson, 1 Feb. 1859, Hendricks County, at the home of her parents, by Rev. Donaldson; and they also went to Ringgold County, Iowa; William died 4 Jan. 1901; Mary died 2 Feb. 1902; both buried in Oralabor Cemetery, Ankeny, Polk County, Iowa.
