The cemetery is actually about 1/2 mile behind Mr. Robbins' home in a pasture.

He was kind enough to accompany us, scare the cattle away, and lift tombstones,

as only a few are still standing. (A point of interest: Mr. Robbins informed us that a.

surveyor had told him that between his home and the cemetery was the highest point

in Milam Co.) His grandfather, John G. Robbins, is buried in the old cemetery on the

Massey Farm . . . by Mrs. Louis C. Hill and Mrs. John T. Martin, November 28, 1965

Laughlin Cemetery

Compiled by Perry C. Holder and Rufus Graves on February 13, 1983.

The Laughlin Cemetery is located about five miles east of Davilla, Texas, on the

Rufus Graves Ranch. It is suggested that you contact Mr. Graves in Sharp, Texas,

to get to the cemetery because it is difficult to find plus the gate is always locked.

There are twenty-seven tombstones and most of the stones are readable.

The cemetery is not badly grown up as of this writing.

The homestead has been in the family for over one hundred years.

Mr. Rufus Graves, his parents, and grandparents were born here.

Mrs. Penelope W. Shinault, the great-grandmother, was buried here.

The grandparents, Fred and Alice Shinault Graves, and Rufus Winston Graves

are buried in the International Order of Odd Fellows Cemetery in Rockdale (IOOF).
