According to Kruise and Latherow family records, Lydia “Mackenych” [sic, Lydia McAninch] |
|
was born at Shade Gap,[Huntingdon County], Pennsylvania, and married William Latherow [1]. |
|
William Latherow was born about 1803, and died 31 October 1854 in Wayne, Mifflin County, |
|
Pennsylvania. William married Lydia McAninch, daughter of (William) Alexander McAninch and |
|
Agnes Cornell. Lydia was born about 1808 in Shade Gap, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania. |
|
The last ‘sighting’ of Lydia is in the 1880 census, at age 72, when she is living with her son, |
|
John W. Latherow, and his wife Anna, in Newton Hamilton, Mifflin County, Pennsylvania [4]. |
|
William and Lydia (McAninch) Latherow had eight children: |
|
1. Mary A. Latherow, born 1825. |
|
2. Eleanor Latherow, born 1827 in Mifflin County, Pennsylvania. |
|
3. William Latherow Jr., born 1830 in Mifflin County, Pennsylvania; he died on 4 October 1888. |
|
4. Catherine Latherow, born February 1835 in Mifflin County, Pennsylvania.. |
|
5. Elizabeth Latherow, born July 1837 in Mifflin County, Pennsylvania; she died 25 January 1912. |
|
6. John Watson Latherow, born 9 January 1842 in Pennsylvania; he died on 16 February 1914. |
|
John married Anna Isabel Ackley, who was born in 1854, and died about 1947, Mifflin County, |
|
Pennsylvania. She was buried in Newton Hamilton Cemetery, Mifflin County, Pennsylvania. |

7. Mary Ann Latherow, born 1845 in Mifflin County, Pennsylvania. |
|
8. Andrew Jackson Latherow, born 10 April 1851, died 11 December 1922. |

family of Huntingdon County. Richard’s comments: “We've always had an ‘unassigned’ female in |

the calculations of the early census records of the William McAninch family, and to my knowledge |
|
we haven't put any other family than William's in the vicinity of Shade Gap.” |

Richard Cochran wrote “The 1830 census for Dublin Twp., Huntingdon Co., Pa. shows a |

|
household headed by Nancy McAninch, with 1 male, 10-14 years of age (e.g., b. 1816-1820) |
|
|
and 1 female, age 30-39 of age (b. 1791-1800). Nancy follows an entry for Wm. McClain, Sr.” |
