The Editor’s Corner |
Important information about the future of this Newsletter. Have decided to become an 'all electronic' |
publication by the end of this year (October 2004), which means that the Newsletter will be available |
by email, and on the web [www.mcaninch.net > Newsletters], but, no hard-copy paper printing, and |
no USPS mailings (despite the clear “First Class” markings, they still manage to mangle or lose one |
or two copies each quarter). So, this is a ‘test’ issue, dual distribution, notice being sent electronically |
to the email addresses that I have for most of you, and also by USPS mail. During this ‘cross-over’ |
period, if you get a copy in the mail, but not by email, you need to send me an updated email address |
Of course, this issue, and every issue, will be posted on the web [www.mcaninch.net > Newsletters]. |
Be careful out there. MorphCorp / The Family News is at it again, trying to sell their worthless |
“The Year 2004 International McAninch Family Yearbook”. Dick Eastman has discussed this scam, |
http://www.ancestry.com/library/view/columns/eastman/5362.asp, and the Better Business Bureau of |
Denver / Boulder says “On April 24, 2003 this company's membership in the BBB was revoked by the |
BBB's Board of Directors due to failure to eliminate the underlying cause of complaints on file with |
the BBB concerning product quality.” http://www.denver.bbb.org/commonreport.html?compid=11038 |
World War II Army Records: NARA, the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration, has just |
released their (massive) “World War II Electronic Army Serial Number Merged File, ca.1938-1946”, |
with 8,866,786 total records [Army, with Army Air Corps, Cavalry, etc., but, not Navy, nor Marines]. |
There are records of 85 McAninch’s extracted from that new database. |
