World War I

 

1. J. McNinch, Private, 64506, King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, died Thurs., 20 March 1919. Age 43. Tollcross (Central) Churchyard Cemetery, Glasgow, United Kingdom (I. new portion. 8).

 

2. Peter McAninch, Private, 291308, 1st/8th Bn., Cameronians (Scottish Rifles), died Sat., 24 Nov. 1917. Age 22. Son of Hugh and Elizabeth McAninch, of 5945, Gallowgate, Glasgow. Native of Busby, Glasgow. Jerusalem War Cemetery, Israel (Ref.: B. 9); cemetery is 4.5 km north of the walled city ... on the neck of land at the north end of the Mount of Olives, west of Mount Scopus.

 

3. W. McIninch, Private, S/23027, 4th Bn., Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, died Sat. 30 October 1920, Age 41. Husband of Agnes McIninch. Kilbarchan Cemetery, Renfrewshire, United Kingdom.

 

World War II

 

4. Herbert Alexander McNinch, Chief Engineer Officer, S.S. Mehnore Head (Belfast), Merchant Navy, who died on Monday, 28 December 1942. Age 41. Son of Mr. and Mrs. R A McNinch. Tower Hill Memorial, London, U.K. (Panel No. 69). Tower Hill Memorial, which commemorates men of the Merchant Navy and Fishing Fleets who have no known grave, stands on the south side of the garden of Trinity Square, London, close to The Tower of London.

 

5. Hugh Caven MacAninch, Sergeant, 581232, M Sqdn. Royal Air Force, who died on Wednesday, 18 Aug. 1943. Age 25. Son of William and Margaret Mary MacAninch, Glasgow. Runnymede Memorial, Surrey, UK (panel 157). This Memorial overlooks the River Thames on Cooper's Hill.

 

6. James McAninch, Private, 14775594, 1st Bn., Gordon Highlanders, died Thursday, 3 May 1945. Age 19. Becklingen War Cemetery, Germany (Grave Ref.: 8.E.1). Becklingen War Cemetery is 13 kilometres south east of Soltau on the west side of the road from Hamburg to Hannover.

 

7. James McIninch, ordinary Telegraphist, P/JX 610015, H.M.S. Minster, Royal Navy, died Thursday, 8 June 1944. Age 19. Son of William and Rose McIninch, Johnstone, Renfrewshire. Portsmouth Naval Memorial, Hampshire, UK (panel 84) ... on Southsea Common overlooking the promenade.

 

8. Samuel McNinch, Private, 6025089, 1/5th Bn., Essex Regiment, died Thurs., 16 October 1941. Age 27. Son of Samuel and Mary McNinch; husband of Elsie McNinch, of Romford. Hornchurch Cemetery, Essex, United Kingdom (Grave Ref.: Sec. D. Grave 443).

 

9. William Matthew McNinch MM, Lance Sergeant, 327865, Royal Armoured Corps, and, Special Air Service Regiment, A.A.C., died Tues., 5 October 1943. Age 31. Son of James and Elizabeth Bridget McNinch, of Port Glasgow, Renfrewshire. Sangro River War Cemetery, Italy (X. C. 39); cemetery lies in the Contrada Sentinelle in the Commune of Torino di Sangro, Province of Chieti.

 

10. William McNinch, Guardsman, 2701840, 2nd Bn., Scots Guards, died Weds., 21 June 1944. Age 19. Son of John and Helen McNinch, of Tollcross, Glasgow. Assisi War Cemetery, Italy (VIII,A,11); cemetery forms part of locality Rivotorto, Commune of Assisi, Province of Perugia.
