[6] A. The SSGHS has only 50% or less of Pullman Co. records from the Chicago operation. What they have was rescued from a woodshed; numerous documents had already been used as fire fuel. So there is a possibility that many other people worked at Pullman but their records are “lost”. |

[6] B. They sent copies of only the employment cards on David (from Ireland), Bert, and his brother Frank E. because that was all they had. The Pullman cards are on microfilm at their library. |

[6] C. The Calumet Works, where David McAninch worked, were on the southeast side of Chicago, between just north of 113th St. and just south of 114th St. and Langley Ave. (just west of I-94 today). |

Newberry Library, Chicago, has some Calumet Works repair shop employment and payroll records for 1901-1967. “The repair shop records for Calumet and St. Louis shop are generally more informative than records of other shops …” and “Calumet (Chicago) … pre‑World War I employment records appear to be about 50% complete …” (Guide to Local and Family History at the Newberry Library, by Peggy T.
