Last month, my wife and I enjoyed a very pleasant trip to Oklahoma and Texas, principally to see her relatives at the Mauk-Gilger Family Reunion at Western Hills Ranch in eastern Oklahoma, near Muskogee, east of Tulsa. Drove through Cherokee and Choctaw country (originally Indian Territory), and saw the "Gettysburg of the West" battlefield, south of Fort Gibson, where the Federals stopped the northward advance of some Texas cavalry. Oklahoma really surprised me, with the number and size of its many Lakes. |

Also went down to Houston, to see some old friends (Jan graduated from the University of Houston), and had the opportunity to meet Pat and Kathy McAninch while we were there. Compared research notes and exchanged data with Kathy, and we had a great time playing tourist driving around Texas. However, this was not a research trip, and the only new data found was in the GEDCOM files on the diskettes she gave us. Thanks again, to Pat and Kathy, for a wonderful visit to Houston, and that "Taste of Texas" steak. |

A couple of people have inquired about an Index -- yes, we need a good, cumulative Index. With a new computer system, and a willing volunteer or two, we'll try to get this indexed. Maybe publish The First Five Years? |
