Jourdan Whitley

 

 

 

I John McAninch have this day bargained and sold and do hereby transfer and convey to

Jourdan [sic] Whitley and his heirs forever for the consideration of four hundred and thirty six

dollars and twenty five cents to me in hand paid a tract of land in the State of Tennessee, Giles

County, and District Number Six containing by survey ninety one and three quarter acres be the

same more or less and bounded as follows

Beginning at a Hickory William M. Ross north east corner running thence west eighty and a half

(80 ½) poles to a small Elm another of William M. Ross’ corner, thence with said Ross’ line

South one hundred + ninety eight + a half (198 ½) poles to a cedar in James Edwards line, thence

east sixty eight and a half (68 ½) poles to a cedar, thence north 3 ½ degrees East one hundred and

ninety nine (199) poles to the beginning

To have and to hold the same to the said Jourdan Whitley his heirs and assigns forever. I do

covenant with the said Jourdan Whitley that I am lawfully seized of said land, have a good right

to convey it, and that the same is unencumbered. I do further covenant and bind myself my heirs

and representatives to warrant and forever defend the title to the said land and every part thereof

to the said Jourdan Whitley his heirs and assigns against the lawful claims of all persons

whatsoever this 17th day of September 1841

Personally appeared before me Edward D. Jones Clerk of the County Court of Giles County the

within named John McAninch with whom I am personally acquainted and who acknowledged that

he executed the within deed for the purposes therein contained
